Justin C Carter
My name is Justin Carter. I am walking for David Fisher and my great great grandma, Robena Crowther – she walked the entire distance when 7 years old. The reason I am walking is so i can have a cool summer and I want to be able to tell my kids about this and my grand kids. I also want to do this for myself.
I like hiking, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. I can’t tell you how happy I will be when this is all done so I can see my friends, family, and my dogs: mongo and coda. I played football for Timpview High and i love to cook, so i think i can do this. I also love to draw and will attempt to capture some of my experiences on trek through drawing.

Hi Justin!
You have the best smile! It’s so fun to see my boys (including you) roughin’ it out! You guys are awesome! Though I miss you guys, I know that I am doing us all a favor by being strong and supporting the good things you are doing. Your mom and I talk every now and then about how hard it is for us to have you boys away and out of our communication range. (It is nice to have her to share common feel “motherly concerns” with.) But, we both agree about the blessing it is at the same time… the things you are learning about yourselves and for yourselves, the ways you boys are being prepared for your missions, and the ways we are being prepared for you to be gone on your missions. This is good for all of us, huh? Keep up the good work, buddy.
I love you Justin…you are in my prayers.

Dear Justin,
Wow, what great experiences you are having! I’m alittle jealous and very proud of you! I’ve gotten some of the updates and know that you are having sore feet and blisters! I’m sorry, but you are a strong young man and can work through the pain! We do miss you in teachers quorum and at Wednesday activities! You are a great example to all the young men in our ward, stake and throughout the whole church! These experiences will help you through trials on your mission and throughout your life! What great stories and tales you will have to share with your family, and some day with you children and grand-children! Keep up the great work, read your scriptures, say your personal prayers, and always wear a smile on your face!
Sincerely,
Jamie

Hey Justin, just thought I’d say hi and hope all is well with you. My guess is by now your already finding out you are stronger and tougher then you ever thought. Stronger in spirit and tougher then nails, right? I think it was meant to be that you were able to go on this trip and be with your friends and people you love. I hope your writing a journal for yourself and keeping track of the things you are enjoying the most.
Have you given any talks yet in church meetings. I know the boys in Teachers Quorums will find some of your experiences very interesting. Remember to always be positive and tell the fun and good things of this trip. They will love and remember those things most.
Say hello to all. Bro. Neese

Hi Justin,
It was great to hear your voice today in the background of the phone call. We had testimony meeting today at church. Your dad bore his testimony! ; ) He is sooooo proud of you and what you are accomplishing. He admired your mom for her willingness, “to sleep on a brand new, deflated mattress all week last week, with out complaint!” We love your family and think of you often Justin. Everything is going great here…no need to worry about us. Put all your energy into what you are doing over there; and “love it while you’re in it!”
Love you,
Sis. Corbin

He bore his testimony! Darn it, I wish I was there! I love testimony meeting, and it always seems to be those sundays that I miss! I was at a baby blessing, so I wasn’t being bad, or anything like that. To be honest, I love church. It’s one of the best places in the world, (second only to the temple!) 🙂

Hello Justin!
I wonder if your family knows about this blog. I don’t see any comments from them. Maybe you guys are communicating through other means, but I will tell them about this one too. I hear Conner joined your morning crew. How’s that going? Are you guys getting pretty far in the mornings?
How’s your sleep going? Are you able to get good rest? Out “under the stars”, just like you like it, huh? What about your feet, socks, shoes? Are they holding up well?
Brett says he HAS to use his suspenders now, or all of his pants fall off. Are you having that same experience? He also says he’s got a pretty nice 6 pack, and getting a bit more built. It will be so fun when we get to see you. I bet you are all growing a few inches too.
I’m thinking about you; missing you around here, but glad you are there. Crazy, huh? I feel a bit crazy; guess nothing new though!
Love ya; can’t wait for hugs,
Sis. Corbin

Justin – This is Ann Packard, BYU reporter covering your story now! Just wanted to ask you a couple of questions – and hope you can reply by Tuesday night!
1. What type of preparations for the trek were you involved in before you left? Being as descriptive as possible will be helpful!
2. Considering the preparations that you made – how did they prepare you physically, mentally and spiritually? And if not, what advice would you give someone now?
I will be asking all those that can write the same question, and would be very appreciative of any input all can offer.
For next weeks article, I would like to focus on the “celebrations” that your company have experienced, such as birthdays along the way, Samuel’s ordination, the half-way point, arriving in Martin’s Cove, 4th of July and any other celebrations that you feel are newsworthy!
Look forward to hearing back from you.
